The Natural Resources Conservation Board is an agency of the Government of Alberta and reports to the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Resource Development. Established in 1991 under the Natural Resources Conservation Board Act (NRCBA), the Natural Resources Conservation Board has two mandates - reviews under the NRCBA of proposals that affect the province's non-energy natural resources, and regulation of confined feeding operations under the Agricultural Operation Practices Act (AOPA). The Natural Resources Conservation Board has been responsible for regulating Alberta's confined feeding operations under AOPA since 2002.
