Board

The board is responsible to all Albertans to ensure that the decisions it reaches are impartial, balanced and in the public interest.

Members of the Natural Resources Conservation Board are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor-in-Council. The board has three members and a chairman.

Section 13 of the Natural Resources Conservation Board Act states that board members are to be appointed for a term that does not exceed five years. Board members conduct reviews under both the Natural Resources Conservation Board Act and the Agricultural Operation Practices Act.

Board members are provided with legal advice, support and assistance through their general counsel, Bill Kennedy, to reach fair and transparent decisions in the regulatory process.

To contact a member of the board or board counsel, please call the Calgary office at (403) 662-3990 or the Edmonton office at (780) 422-1977.

Board review staff help stakeholders participate in and understand reviews conducted under the Agricultural Operation Practices Act and the Natural Resources Conservation Board Act. They provide support to board panel members to promote an efficient and effective decision process. Where appropriate, board review staff coordinate mediation and facilitation of issues when they are brought to the board’s attention through a request for review.

To contact board review staff, please call the Edmonton office at (780) 422-1977.
